1. Pick a language you really enjoy
Don’t do like most people would do and simply choose a language it’s commonly spoken. If you’re going to put effort into anything, you should invest your time in something you truly enjoy. If you dreamed of visit somewhere special around the world, you might enjoy learning the language spoken there.
2. Use your free time to watch movies
Even if you think you don’t have enough time to watch TV, well I am sure there is few hours a day that you can take to rest and watch a foreign movie in the same time. Movies wont simply teach a language, but it will also introduce you to a new culture.
3. Discover new music
We all know how it feels to be stressed out and long to listen to a song that makes you smile. Go to the MTV website of the country whose language you want to learn and explore what songs they have to offer. Then take some of those names and do YouTube searches to find related artists. Even if you can’t get a hold of its meaning yet, you can still appreciate the rhythm and the sound in your ears.
4. Get to talk with real native speakers
Go on a website like Italki and find new people who speak this language you want to learn. It is what we call a language exchange. This person might also be interested in learning your own language. Then you can keep in touch with them trough chatting via Skype or Google Hangout.
It can be a little awkward in the beginning since you don’t know the person, but use your good judgment to ensure you’re talking with somebody you actually would like to be friends with.
5. Eat the food and live the culture
Look for recipes online that are popular in the country you are looking forward to learn its language. Go to restaurants that offers that type of food, you might come across people from there who would love to help you out achieving your goal. Through food, people and music, you will get the chance to get acquainted to much more than just their language. Don’t be afraid of new things, it might teach more than you already know about your interests and yourself!
