Working conditions in the early twentieth century were very different from today. In addition, painful jobs were not only for adults but also for children. Lewis has made a series of shocking photographs showing young Americans hired for very difficult tasks for a very low salary.

These images compiled by Lewis Hine show how the concerns of many kids at the time were quite different from the fear of going to school or laziness-related duties. The dangers of injury when using unsafe machinery or harmful dust which saturated mines were part of their daily worries.

These pictures have truly touched me . They remind us that today , although prohibited in most countries of the world, child labor is still practiced in some countries. These processes are revolting unfortunately still relevant and deprive children of their youth involved . Do you think this series of photographs can serve the cause of child protection?
