PIN (personal identification number) for your credit card or your debit card (bank card)
A very important video to watch to understand how to protect your PIN.
this is a new way for bad guys to steal your ATM pin code using an iPhone without you noticing at all BUT there is a really simple way to prevent it from happening.

The bank tells you to be careful about tearing up the PIN that they send you with a new card. But did you know that there are more things that you can do to protect your number and ensure that nobody tries to use your account? Debit cards are very attractive to would-be thieves because immediate cash is always more desirable than goods on a credit card. Here are some additional, simple steps for you to take to protect your PIN (personal identification number)

Here are some tips to help protect your debit card and PIN:

  • Use your hand or body to shield your PIN when you are conducting transactions at an ATM or at a point-of-sale terminal.
  • Never let your banking card out of your sight when conducting a transaction at a point-of-sale terminal. Always remember to take your banking card and transaction record with you once your transaction is completed.
  • Regularly check your statements and balances to verify that all transactions have been properly documented. If entries do not accurately reflect transaction activities, you should contact your branch immediately.
  • If your banking card is lost, stolen or retained by an ATM, notify your BMO Bank of Montreal branch immediately.
  • Your banking card and PIN are the keys to your account(s). Never disclose your PIN to anyone... not even to a BMO representative. You are the only person who should know it.
  • Memorize your PIN - it's your electronic signature. If you suspect that someone knows your PIN, change it immediately or contact your BMO Bank of Montreal branch to cancel the card.
  • When selecting your PIN, never use obvious information - such as, your telephone number, date of birth, address or social insurance number / social security number.
